Leipzig (Machern), Oct. 13, 2022: Visual artist Michael Mutschler, a Silver Artist in painting and ceramics, has won the "Faces of Peace Art Prize" for his work. Awarded by New York Contemporary Art Curator Magazine, the prize is dedicated to artists who highlight the value of the human in current times marked by brutality and war. Mutschler will be honored with other artists in a publication and online exhibition in spring 2023.Borderline between tragedy and comedy
 
     
       
    The artist said the award pleased him and encouraged him to continue with his spontaneous expressionist works. After his retirement as a "silver artist," Mutschler intensively accompanies the present and depicts in various painterly cycles the way people deal with the catastrophes that befall them, from war to corona to climate catastrophe. "Sometimes the depictions slip into caricature," says Michael Mutschler, "but sometimes that seems to me the best depiction of how we deal with reality." He said this borderline between tragedy and comedy in his works was also a frequent topic of conversation with visitors at the Magdeburg 2022 art fair.

From October 19, works by the retired art teacher from Schwäbisch Hall, who has lived in Machern near Leipzig since 2010, will be on display at the "Semaine de Art Basel" in Paris.
